As we ended the last decade we were collating/archiving assets from the LAMP site and think it important to recognise the people that made LAMP the Australian icon in effective emerging media development.

Many of the mentors and participants were beginning their own journey on these workshops and residentials and are now leading the industry in Australia and abroad. We hope these ‘retrospective’ posts serve as a record for that which follows LAMP.

An interactive drama about lives in an Australian apartment block

Project description: The apartment is a place where you can watch the lives of its characters unfold on a daily basis. You can explore their world and take part in the decisions they make. You are kept updated of developments in the storyline on your mobile.

LAMPodTwo video podcasts from LAMP. These hybrid “making of’s” and “promos” give an insight into the LAMP process. They contain behind the scene glimpses at seminars, workshops, presentations and the last two residential labs. The 5 minute version contains a more detailed look at the first live-in-lab, mentors and guest speakers.

Project description: Project Greenlight Australia 2 is an exciting new way to receive TV, a subscription broadband TV channel. But there is a lot more to it than that as it is a place where the viewer can join a community of like-minded people to review those submitted scripts sent in as part of the PGLA2 competition. They can view reviews, rate the viewers and the best reviewer can appear in the broadcasts. The package contains other bonuses too such as the shorts competitions, buying tickets and the ‘Lift Pitch’.

INSECT MEN FROM THE FIRST DIMENSION
A unique non-linear sci-fi drama/comedy

Project description: The world’s first GILM (game/film). Insect Men From the First Dimension is an online investigative game in which players trawl the web salvaging the memories as short film fragments, of two characters who have lost their minds. Players then assemble the video memories, restoring order and proceeding to further levels. There are communities of interest that will build around the conspiratorial nature of hacker meets corporate business and elements of surprise and viral distribution supply even more intrigue.

Project description: Read with me, play with me is an electronic picture-book series based on the adventures of Poppy, Matilda and Mu-Mu the cat. Written for pre-literate children from 2 to 5 years old, the stories are interactive, engaging and developed for learning through play. The TV series is designed so that parents can sit with their children and navigate a simple interactive TV application. There are a range of wall-papers and simple videos that can be delivered to mobile phones so parents can share elements of the stories with their children, whilst on the move.

Project description: Sum of our parts is an emotional journey to the heart of Australian family life. Following a talk show in which families explore their deep and complex relationships we are taken into a post show digital loop of pre-prepared stories. These insights are from viewers telling their own story, and who have submitted via a unique broadband facility. On the broadband site you can view extra footage from the show, related stories and explore the archive of user submitted themed content.

HIT IT!
A cross-platform, participatory musical drama for teenagers
Tagline: “Satisfy the creative spirit”

Project description: HitIt is led by a 26part, 24 minute TV show. Viewers can use the broadband online site to use musical tools and create their own music, take part in song-writing competitions and vote for who they think are making the best ‘sounds’. The series ends with a live interactive TV special where the online community come together and show the TV world their creations.

Project description: An emotive story about a soon to be Australian icon. Follow Georgiana�s route from Scotland to Australia, her settler diaries, botanical notes and her insights into the new cultures she found.
